mmm that arizona green tea is so tasty. i loooked at the nutritional facts today and realized it's pure sugar and probably just about as bad for me as soda :(.

i'm gonna start buying packets of green tea. it won't be as sweet, but it'll be better than this arizona crap.

What do you all think? [Feb. 29th, 2008|05:24 pm]
Does this sound sketchy?

I found this in the mail room:

If anyone in the building has Wireless INternet & would be willing to share the password for $15 - 20/mo leave a note @ #107. My name is Ashleee & I moved in 4 days ago. We could both save $$$$$.
                            xoxoxoxoxxoxo <3

I left a note under her door 'cause she lives on my floor (like 3 apartments down tho) and maybe my router would reach. Does that seem like a sketchy thing to do?

which mp3 player sound better? [Jan. 26th, 2008|01:39 pm]
[Current Location |The Tenderloin w0000t. REPRESENT.]
[music |only skin - joanna newsom]

so about month ago (well, 28 days ago to be exact) I bought a Zune. immediately after i started using it around my friend they were like, "why would you get.......THAT. you should get an iPod!" and it's true, iPods probably have the best interface of any mp3 player i've seen.

when i bought the zune i fully intended to buy a new iPod Classic after a couple of weeks of using the Zune to see which one I really liked better. I finally got my new iPod in the mail a few days ago and this morning I did a 100% fair side-by-side comparison testing to see which device has better sound quality.

I made sure that I would be testing the exact same mp3 file (I would test a lossless file, but the iPod and the Zune use different lossless formats, so it wouldn't be fair to do that), a 256bitrate of Jens Lekman's Shirin. I used the same exact earphones and made sure not to take them off in between tests, because sometimes if you get a better seal (with the earphones) the music will sound better, but that didn't happen here. i could definitely hear a clear difference in sound quality between the two devices.

To make sure I wasn't imagining it, I tested another song, Mushaboom by Feist - same mp3 file on both devices. I made sure to switch the order in which i tested the devices (Jens Lekman was Zune then iPod, but Feist was iPod then Zune) just to make sure it wasn't some psychological bullshit. That song sounds AWESOME when heard over headphones/earphones, by the way. AFter listening to Mushaboom on both devices I had come to a definitive conclusion!  I would have tested a third song if I  felt  the need to, but the difference was so staggering that it didn't seem necessary:

The Zune unequivicably has better sound quality than this iPod Classic. that's just a fact. my ears don't lie.

the iPod is cuter though. it's also smaller. i prefer the interface. i wish it had better sound quality, but i think i'm going to go buy a micro amplifier to hook up to my iPod and it'll sound much better than the Zune :-p. Anyway, I'm returning the Zune today, because the iPod has much better useability. I like iTunes a lot more than the stupid Zune software, too.

NEVER FORGET 10/23 [Jan. 11th, 2008|11:57 am]

When I first saw people starting to type "NEVER FORGET' in reference to the shutting down of Oink's Pink Pallace I thought it was absurd and dramtic. It's just a peer-to-peer music sharing website! There's many more and new ones open up every day.

The truth is the Oink's Pink Pallace was the greatest thing that ever happened to digital music distribution in general. Certainly the best thing that ever happened to illegal peer-to-peer sharing. Even if I had an unlimited pass to iTunes or any similar music library I would turn it down in an instant to have Oink back! Sure, iTunes has pretty much everything (so did Oink), but Oink didn't even allow for the low-quality mp3 files that are the standard on iTunes. On Oink's Pink Pallace not only could you find whatever you wanted in a high bitrate mp3, you could also get nearly anything in Lossless formats! That's priceless! You can't get Lossless files on iTunes. Why would I want to pay 99 cents for an mp3 file with a 128 bitrate? ewww, no thanks.

The only alternative to a thing like Oink is to start buying CDs again. iTunes is NOT an alternative.

NEVER FORGET 10/23.

Transformations! [Jan. 10th, 2008|01:33 pm]
Not too long ago I was walking back home and I noticed this cute gay boy sitting at the corner of turk and hyde with a whole bunch of ghetto looking  people. I assumed that this boy was probably new to the whole Tenderloin/crack/meth scene because he still looked pretty suburban in the way he dressed and he didn't seem to be all that comfortable around the thugs and crackheads he was with. I kinda felt like inviting him up to my apartment to smoke some weed or for some hot chocolate, because I was worried about him being so young and out in the Tenderloin, but I decided against it. Now i'm kinda glad I didn't try to save his life because he has provided me with some good entertainment:

so when i first saw him he looked like any other gay boy.
a couple of weeks later I noticed he had styled his hair differently, definitely a lot more feminine than before.
a week or so after that i noticed highlights and other colors in his hair.
a couple of weeks after that he starts to wear a bit of makeup, like foundation and maybe some blush.
today i noticed he was wearing bright red lipstick and his face looked totally like a drag queen's, but his clothes are still the same.

i'm excited to see what he'll morph into next. he always seems to be hanging out at turk and hyde. turk and hyde, i have said many times, is the single most ghetto intersection in all of the The Tenderloin. so many drugs.

dance darlin'! [Jan. 8th, 2008|12:33 pm]
[music |joanna newsom]

yesterday i was dancing around to Joanna Newsom. As it was Joanna Newsom my dancing was a bit strange because I wanted to move to her music. I had the window open because I wanted some fresh air and at some point I looked out my window and 3 or 4 windows from one of the buildings across from me had people in them staring at me dancing!!! they must have thought i was on heroin or something the way i was dancing, lol.....one of the guys had binoculars! i ran away from my window so they couldn't see and then closed it later on. lol i hope they didn't catch a very good look a my face - i doubt they would have 'cause it was dark in my apartment.

also:
i sent in my headphones for a warranty exchange and got BETTER ones back in the mail!

Yesterday we went out Union Square to try to buy some clothes (weren't all that successful) and there were TONS of Santas. There was some kind of street party with loud music blaring - the streets were SUPER packed (getting to the Macys Mens was a difficult task), I think it must have been a Santa themed street party because there were more than 100 people dressed up in Santa costumes (some of them were very skimpy santa costumes).

I took a crappy photo with my phone.
